After – Painting Boxes

As promised last week in Painting Boxes here is a video to show how I take boxes apart after they are painted.  I got ONE take of this so here it is!  Normally this would have made a blooper reel, but not here.

There is one important key to doing this successfully. You should do this AS SOON AS THE BOXES ARE DRY ENOUGH TO HANDLE. Otherwise, especially if using acrylic latex paint you may have problems with the paint sticking to the wood SO tight that it will break away at the wood grain instead of between the boxes. Not an outcome you are looking for after you spend all the time painting.

Using a rubber mallet you need to strike the box with a sharp blow, but not excessively hard. After you do it couple times you will get the technique down.

Good luck.
